Each item has many information related to it.

. Description of the item + What is written on the Stamp

. Issued Year and Issued Date

. Face value of the item

. Catalog Numbers

. Size(mm) Width x Height

. Perforation (Stamps)

. Watermark (Old Stamps)

. Paper type (Old Stamps)


. Distribution (Stamps): Indicator about how common a stamp among the collectors in the system. 4 Catogories. [VC]=Very Common, [C]=Common [UC]=Un Common [R]=Rare.

. On Sale [S] - This item is on sale at www.collectors.lk at the moment

. For Swap [Swp] - This item is availabe to Swap(exchage)


. Themes. For which Theme catalories is this item belongs to. Thre can be multiple Themes for a single item

This is a very comprehensive tool to find the exact item you are looking for

There are many options to search...Catalog#s, Issue type,Issued period, Wordings on the description, Theme,Face value, colour, picture type, shape or a combination of all

You can use this from any view. or and

Any search option you may enter will be available across all views.


There is a help tip at each search option. Click on heading to expand

Search 1 - Issue type (Applicable only to Stamps).

Select from Stamps/Souvenir sheets/ FDC / Miniature Sheets/ Sets



Search 2 - Issue Period(Era).

Items are categorised in to Eras depending on the time they were issued.



Search 3 - Text Search: There are Different options

Option 1: Catalog # (cannot combine with other options).

Should always start with the catalog type (Eg. Stamps: SG, CSL, SC Coins: KM, KMN[united east india company] Notes: P)



Option 2 - Word search

Search the word you type, in the description for the item. Can search for more than one word. Even a part of a word will be searched. In a multiple word search if one word is not there other words will be searched

Adv Search: If you want the exact word use "(" and ")" Eg. (KING) - Will filter word KING

If you use (KING - It will filter words starting with KING

If you use KING) - It will filter words ending with KING




Following example shows 2 words search.




In this example I want to search 'Peradeniya Gardens'. You get the result even with few letters of each word.




Option 3 - Face value search (Always currency type must follow the value)

Eg. 10C, 10CENTS, 10CENT,25RS, 100RUPEES




Option 4 - Issued year search

This can be combined with other options as well

Eg. Single year: 2006



Eg. A Period: 1975-1985

Option 5-Theme search- Updating progress

Items are categorise into themes (Catagories) depending on what is in the picture or what purpose it was issued for

You can select from the dropdown list or type to find the listed Themes'

You can easily maintain your collection as an on-line collectin with Collectors.lk

Which gives you great insight to your collection from How many items I have, to what are the missing items

With few easy steps you can update the system


Add items

Find the item from Search tools and click on it to open item display window

There are 2 ways you can Add items. First by using 'Mint+' or 'Used+' button to add a single item. (When you use 'Used+' option quality of the item will be saved as good')

Oher way is to use 'Add Any' to enter larger quantity or if you want to enter 'Used' item with other quality type.



Edit/Delete items

Find the item from Search tools and click on it to open item display window

Use 'Edit' button to open existing item quantities and modify it. To delete, make the quantities 0

You can edit Remain quantity, Swap Quantity and Selling quantity. And selling price.



After entering your whole collection into the system you can view

Bulk update of my Collection   ^Back to top

Good news for anyone with a large collection.!! Without entering one by one to your collection you can now use bulk update option to update a whole year of items with one click! How to use it. Example: You have all stamps of 2010 except 5 stamps in your physical collection. Without entering all stamps in to the system one by one, you can update all stamps of 2010 in a single update and later delete the 5 stamps you don't have. So simple.

Step 1: Goto 'Configuration' link in the dropdown Menu. Click on Bulk updating and Save it.

Step 2: Goto Catalog view and filter the year you want to update. At the bottom of the view, you will find 2 new buttons [Add all items to MINT collection] & [Add all items to Use collection]. Press what you want to update all items shown in that Filter (Year) into your collection.

Step 3: Now you can delete whatever stamps you are missing in that year by going to your collection.

Note: As this update cannot be reversed please make sure you do it carefully. Also to minimize human errors we have have restricted this update for maximum of 200 items at a time. This is available only for Stamps / FDCs / Souvenir sheets / Miniature sheets at the moment. Please go through the pictures to get a better idea.









Add items for Selling   ^Back to top

Find the item from Filter or Search tools and click on it to open item display window

If you don't have this item in your collection press'Add to Collection' button. If you have press 'Edit' button.

In the quantity edit window you can specify the number of items you want to sell(It will be deducted from your remaining quantity) and Price of a single item

You can even upload a picture of what you are selling. This will be mandatory for expensive items

In this example image, I got total collection of 30 items, out of which 5 will be on selling list at Rs. 75 each.


After entering you can see your selling items in 'Sell' Tab

Pls note this Tab is also can be filtered with the Filter tool. Eg. if you can't see the items you entered for selling, Filter for All periods.







How to buy - Market    ^Back to top

Step1 - Add to cart

Press Market tab to see what is on for sale

Use Filter button to find Stamps/FDC/SS or all, and the period.

Also can use Search tool just like in Catalog to search for what you want.


This will show Mint/Used type, Selling price and the Sellers name

If you want to buy this, you just press 'Add to cart' button

You can even go to Sellers Page to see all items he/she is selling by pressing on Sellers name. You can Add to cart from sellers' page too

You have to press Home button from Seller's page to get back

Step2 - Confirm buy


Press cart icon to go to Cart view


Eg.You have selected 3 items from one seller & 2 items from another.

If you change your mind you can remove items in the cart

Step2 - Confirm Buying

Press 'Confirm Purchase' if you want to buy. Seller or Sellers will be notified by email about your purchase request

You can goto your Transactions and see current status of your buying request.



Step3 - Confirm by Seller

When seller got notified by email, seller opens the Selling tab of Transactions


Press Show button to view the order.


Seller should enter Postage Fee and Bank details for the buyer to pay money.

Press 'Confirm Sale'. Buyer will be notified by email to pay

Step4 - Buyer makes payment

When buyer got notified, buyer opens the buying tab of Transactions and view the order


Pay the amount mentioned to the Bank account details mentioned by seller

After that enter your mailing address and confirm by pressing Payment done button.


Step5 - Seller post the order

When seller got notified, check whether payment has been actualy received, and post the items

And confirm the order as posted by


Step6 - Buyer receives order

When buyer receives the package updates the order saying 'Items received'


This will update Buyers Collection with the received items automatically

Transactions is now completed





My Collection summary   ^Back to top

Find how many items you have in your collection, along with the missing items

Most wanted information for any collector. Summaries by Period or Issue and Issued Year

Select 'My Collection Summary' from Menu TAB


Issued period wise summary is shown. Number of items in Catalog, Number of items in my collection and Number of items missing in my collection. When you press on 'Issued period' a Year-wise detailed summary is shown. You can press on any number to goto that particular view related to that Period/Year. You can select Used or Mint or Used+Mint totals by going to 'Filter' tab and filter on Unit type.


Full total summary is shown at the bottom of the list.


When you press on any number it will go to that relevant view and relevant period/year.







How to Swap (හුවමාරු කිරීම)    ^Back to top

Step1 - You have to add items to your Swap list. (items you have in extra which you want to swap with others)

The same way you add items for your collection.

Step2 - Select Swap option from Menu'


Press 'Find Swappers' button to display other users who can swap their items with you


A list of users who have stamps to swap will be displayed with number of stamps which can be swapped

System will only swap stamps you and other user is missing. So you have to first update your collection acurately

Press [Show] button to view items which will be swapped (Others/yours)

Step3 - Press [Confirm to swap these items] to start swap'

It will be shown in your My Transactions list


An email will be sent to the other user to confirm this swap. Next steps will be for both parties to post the items and update the system

When each of you receive the items in post, update the system saying you have received the items. This will update your collection automatically with the new items.
